  This article investigated the technical efficiency and factors affecting the efficiency in sugarcane production in Thach Thanh district, Thanh Hoa province. To estimate technical efficiency, we used the stochastic production function (SPF) with data collected from 105 sugarcane producers. Our study indicated that the technical efficiencies of sugarcane production were 82.53%. Factors affecting the technical efficiencies included education of household heads, the participation of extension system and the adoption of sugarcane varieties. The adoption of technology procedures guided by extension officers can improve sugarcane yields.

  This study was conducted to analyze the factors affecting the technical efficiency of duck farming in the coastal area of the Red River Delta.Thestudy appliedthe stochastic production frontierto estimate technical efficiency and usedsurvey data of duck farmers in 3 coastal provinces (Thai Binh, Hai Phong,andNinh Binh). The results showedthat the average economic efficiency in duck production was quite high, at 74.72% for domestic duck farmingand 97.8% for sea duck farming.The factors that hadpositive impact on the economic efficiency of duck farmingincludedage, experience, education, and association activities. We recommend that policymakers canusethe findings from this study to help farmers expanding the scale of sea duck production in the future.

  This study was conducted to analyze the current economic efficiency and evaluate technical efficiency in tea production through a survey of 293 farming households in Yen Son district, Tuyen Quang province. The research focused on economic efficiency analysis and applied the stochastic Translog frontier function to estimate the level of technical efficiency in tea production. The results revealed an economic efficiency of VND 97.3 million /ha/crop, while the average technical efficiency level reached approximately 31.84%, indicating significant potential for improving tea productivity in the region. The study also identified that factors influencing economic and technical efficiency included household production characteristics, tea varieties, and organic farming methods, all of which contribute to enhancing tea productivity and quality while improving technical efficiency in production. Therefore, agricultural extension policies, training, and capacity-building programs are expected to continue playing a crucial role in promoting the sustainable development of the tea industry in Vietnam.

• Technical Efficiency of Orange Farm Householdsin Ham Yen District, Tuyen Quang Province

  The study of the current status of orange production in Ham Yen District, Tuyen Quang Province. Primary data was collected through a survey of 125 orange growers using a questionnaire. The study focused on analyzing the costs and economic efficiency of conventional and organic orange production in the Ham Yen district of Tuyen Quang province. In addition, the study employed Cobb-Douglas stochastic production frontier function to estimate the level of technical efficiency. The results showed that the technical efficiency of orange cultivation in Ham Yen district of Tuyen Quang province reached 89.6% for conventional orange growers and 82.1% for organic orange growers. The factors such as the number of years of schooling, pest and disease problems, and the production loan situation are simultaneously affecting both groups of conventional and organic orange growers. Based on these results, the authors proposed a number of solutions to expand the area of organic oranges and improve the quality of Ham Yen oranges in the coming time.

• Technical Efficiency of Dragon Fruit Farming Householdsin Chau Thanh District, Long AnProvince

  This studyattemptedto estimate the technical efficiency and its determinants ofdragon fruit farming, based on the data collected from 118 dragon fruit farming householdss in Chau Thanh district, Long An province. A Cobb-Douglas stochastic frontier model incorporating inefficiency effects was employed to analyze the data using the Frontier 4.1. The results revealed that the technical efficiency rangedbetween 49.5%-97.4 %(76.0%on average).Significant factors that were found to positively affect dragon fruit yield were cultivated area, potash fertilizer, and labor while seed (planted density) was negatively related to the fragon fruit yield. In addition, significant determinants that positively related to technical efficiency were farmers’ education attainment, membership of local associations, technical training and credit access. The improvement of these factors would lead to an increase in technical efficiency.
