    Abstract


    The study aimed to evaluate the situation and to propose solutions for poverty reduction of Lo Lo ethnic minority group in Cao Bang province. The study surveyed 240 ethnic minority households (with 122 Lo Lo group, and 58 other ethnic minority households such as H’Mong and Nung), including poor households, near-poor households, and non-poor households. In recent years, many policies, programs, and projects have been implemented in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, which contributed to improving the living standards of Lo Lo ethnic people in Cao Bang as well as other regions of Vietnam. However, the multidimensional poverty rate of Lo Lo households was still high (74.03% in 2018), the material and spiritual life of Lo Lo ethnic people still faces many difficulties; low educational level, illiteracy was still high, medical examination and treatment, healthcare services for people were still limited. Therefore, it is necessary to effectively implement some policies to reduce poverty sustainably for Lo Lo ethnic
    group in Cao Bang province such as supporting production development, access to credit, training to improve
    the quality of human resources, improving quality of education and health care; investing in upgrading and completing infrastructures.
