This study investigated the dynamics of CO₂ emissions in Vietnam’s industrial sector during the 2007–2022 period. The results reveal that CO₂ emissions from industry increased by 3.2 times in to 2007 compared to 2022, thereby exerting significant pressure on the environment. Using secondary data from the International Energy Agency and the national statistical authority, combined with the Logarithmic Mean Divisia Index (LMDI) method, the study identified four key drivers of rising industrial CO₂ emissions: the labor effect, the income effect, the energy structure effect, and the carbon intensity effect. In contrast, the renewable energy intensity effect played a mitigating role in reducing industrial CO₂ emissions, although its contribution remains modest. The study suggested that technological innovation, structural transformation toward services and high-tech industries, enhancement of labor productivity, and improvement in energy efficiency, along with reducing reliance on fossil fuels in production, are essential to curb CO₂ emissions in Vietnam’s industrial sector.
