    Abstract

In Vietnam, citrus is one of the major fruit commodities and citrus farming brings about economic benefit for farmers and creates employment opportunities. Chaetomium was used as biological control agents against several pathogens causing plant disease. The research was conducted to identify the local strains of Chaetomium species from citrus cultivated soil samples collected in nothern Vietnam. Chaetomium species were isolated by soil baiting technique. Based on morphological characteristics and molecular analysis of internal transcribed space gene, two species, Chaetomium cupreum and Chaetomium globosum were identified. Further research would formulate as biological fungicide and test in vitro conditions.
