Evaluating the Potential of Digital Soil Mapping Method to Map Soil Typesin BacNinh Province

The multinomial logistic regression (MLR) model has been being widely used for soil mapping because it could help save time and costs for collecting and analyzing soil data points compared to conventional methods. This research aimed to assess the potential of mapping soil types in Bac Ninh by assessing the performance of Multinomial Logistic Regression (MLR) model in predicting soil types. Nine predictive variables were derived from the ancillary data including land use, altitude, slope, NDVI, PVI, RVI, Topographic Wetness Index and SAGA Wetness Index. MLR model was constructed to predict soil classes at 2 levels: WRB-Reference Soil Group and intermediate level of Soil Group between Reference Soil Group and the full WRB soil name. The map quality was evaluated by the soil map purity estimated with an independent validation dataset. The diversity indices were calculated to assess the information content of the resultant maps. Assessment of the model’s prediction was based on the soil map purity, the Shannon’s entropy and a combined index. MLR yielded high map purity at the level of Reference Soil Group. When the taxonomic level changed from Reference Soil Group level to intermediate level, the map purity decreased while the value of the diversity indices increased. Therefore, soil mapping using MLR in predicting Reference Soil Group might be more efficient. However, at intermediate level, the model predicted higher diversity of soil map and thus the informative value estimated by the combined index was higher.
Risk Factors Associated with Pospartum Metritis in Sows

The aims of the present study were to investigate the prevalence of postpartum metritis in sows and to evaluatetheeffects of some risk factors on the prevalence of thedisease. The data monitored and collected from309 sows ofthreepig farms in threeprovinces,i.e.Bac Giang, Nam Dinh, and Hoa Binh wereanalyzed using logistic regression. Followingthe univariate logistic regression analysis, the factors associated with postpartum metritis (P < 0.2) were retained and used to construct a multivariate logistic regression model. Results showed that the prevalence of postpartum metritis in sows was 76.38%. Multivariate logistic regression analysis demonstrated that midwifery (OR = 8.86, P <0.001) and farrowing duration (OR = 1.36, P < 0.01) significantly affected the postpartum metritis status in sows. The present study substantiated that the prevalence of postpartum metritis in sows at studied farms was very high. Avoiding midwifery and reducing the farrowing duration may help reduce the risk of affliction of postpartum metritis.
Prediction of Land Use Changes in Don Duong District, Lam Dong Province Using Integrated Model of GIS, Markov Chain, and Logistic Regression

Land use changes are recognized as one of the most significant driving forces of environmental changes. This study aimed to predict land-use change in Don Duong district, Lam Dong provinceby applying the integration of GIS, Markov chain and logistic regression. The land-use maps of 2010 and 2015 were employed to predict the land-use scenario for 2020. The predicted results were compared with the observed land-use map of 2020 to validate the method using kappa index statistics. Based on the proposed model, the future land-use change prediction for 2025 and 2030 was performed. The forecast results show that Don Duong district had a significant change in land use. Converting the forest land into other land uses, especially to built-up land and annual agricultural land, is the main land-use change in the future.The resultof this study providesuseful information as the foundation for planning local land-use policies to ensure sustainable development goals.
APPLYING LOGISTIC REGRESSION MODEL TO ANALYZE THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN LAND USE CHANGE AND NATURAL - SOCIAL FACTORS:ACASE STUDY IN TIEN YEN DISTRICT, QUANG NINH PROVINCE

The objective of this research wasto analyze the correlation between land use change and the social-natural factors in Tien Yen district using logistic regression model. The target variable was land use changeand the dependent variables wereelevation, slope, distance to the main road, distance to the secondary road, distance to riverandstream, distance to village, ethnology, policies, population density, population growth rate, and average food per capita. The model was run in SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Science) software version 20. The results showed different relationship between land use change and social-natural factors in different periods. From 2000 to 2005, the land use change of Tien Yen increased with the increase of elevation, distance to the secondary road and Dao ethnic minority, whereas slope, distance to stream and Kinh, Tay, San Chi ethnic minorities decreased. In the period of 2005 - 2010, the land use change in Tien Yen have positive correlation with slope, ethnology and Government policies while elevation and distance to the main roads showed reverse correlation.
Vietnamese Consumers’ Awareness of Organic Foods: A Case Study in Hanoi City

Expanding the market share of organic foods faces many difficulties in developing countries like Vietnam. One of the most important reasons is inadequate perception of organic foods due to limited information. The study examined Vietnamese consumers’ perception, and identified factors affecting the awareness of organic foods in the country. We interviewed 203 consumers randomly chosen at big supermarkets in Hanoi city. Through using descriptive statistics and applying ordered logit model, our study showed that only about 10% of the consumers had adequate awareness of organic food, while a half only heard of it but did not understand about organic term. Forty percent of remaining people have never heard of organic foods. Specific factors affecting the Vietnamese consumers’’ perception of organic foodare the product origin/label, food safetyevaluation and consumers’, education, age and occupatio.
Barriers and Solutions Proposed for Scaling - out the Sustainable Rice Productionin the Mekong River Delta

Sustainable rice production (SRP) is one of the solutions to help increase the value of rice, while contributing to reducing greenhouse gas emissions to achieve the government's Net zero goal. Implementing and scaling-out SRP meeting standards are a challenge for the rice industry and localities. This study aimed to assess the current situation,barriers and influencing factors to propose solutions for developing the SRP in the Mekong Delta. The study surveyed 318 farming households implementing the SRP standard in 3 provinces An Giang, Dong Thap and Can Tho in 2022. Besides descriptive statistics, the study used binary regression to determine influencing factors and level of compliance with SRP standards. The results show that about 7.2% of farming households met the SRP standard. The education level of the household head, land area size and contract production exerted a positive influence on the probability of meeting the SRP standard. Proposed solutions to increase the proportion of farming households that meet SRP standards are to improve farmer capacity, increase the proportion of young people in production, and improve straw collection and stubble treatment, local service infrastructure, and contract farming according to the rice value chain approach.

In our study, we used statistical models based on multivariate linear discriminant analysis, logistic regression and SVM methods to construct bank classification functions for early risk warning for Vietnam joint stock commercial banks The models were built on attribute groups such as profitability, deficit indicators, asset management efficiency, asset quality, safety level, sustainable growth rate and liquidity. The study calculates the accuracy of the research models on both data sets and tests, in addition to the types of mistakes of type I, mistakes of type II that models suffer from.
Evaluation of Learning Demand after Graduating from High Schools of Grade 12 Students in Bac Ninh Province

The study of students' learning demand was conducted by interviewing 205 students of grade 12 at 4 high schools and continuing Education Centers of Bac Ninh province. This study analyzes the tendance about career and degree level of students after graduating from high school. The results have shown that: the percentage of students have been learning about careers and universities that they intend to apply are 54.1% and 67.32%, respectively. Students have chosen to study business accounted for 35.12% indicated that business sector has been attracted the most candidates, only 1.95% of the interviewed students would like to study agriculture, forestry and fisheries. Binary logistic regression is used to analysis the factors affecting intention “yes” or “no” applying to universities. The result showed that learning capacity, current school, learning about careers and universities, the number of universities that students can identify are the factors influencing the intension to apply to university after graduating of students. Promoting university and career through social networking sites, making links between universities, companies and highs chools to carrer advice for students is admission measures of the university./.
Application of CLUMondo Model in Forecasting Land use Changes in Van Yen district, Yen Bai Province

This study applied the CLUMondo model to simulate land changes for land use planning in Van Yen district, Yen Bai province under two scenarios: Scenario 1- land use demand in the past and Scenario 2- based on local land use orientation. The simulation principle of the model was based on the interaction between the influencing factors and land use types through logistic regression. The simulation accuracy of the model for the 2020 overlay map was evaluated by the Kappa coefficient of 0.88. The simulation results show that by 2030, in scenario 1, construction land fluctuates the most (increase by 9.82%), while forest land and agricultural land decrease to 83.25% and 1.77%, respectively. In scenario 2, the forest and agricultural land also tend to decrease, but less than in scenario 1. The most obvious difference between the two scenarios is that the area of construction land increases sharply in scenario 1 compared to scenario 2, and the bare land with shrubs increases in scenario 1 but decreases in scenario 2.
Factors Affecting The Self-Employment Decision of Rural Female Labor in Nam Dinh Province

Rural female laborers play an important role in maintaining and managing household income and are the driving force for local socio-economic development. If rural female laborers promote the spirit of business ownership, they can create their own jobs, thereby improving income, stabilizing life and enhancing their social status. This study was conducted with the aim of identifying factors affecting the decision to create their own jobs of rural female laborers in Nam Dinh province. The study used data collected from a survey of 200 female laborers belonging to two groups: self-employed and hired rural female laborers in rural areas of Nam Dinh province. Using descriptive statistical methods, chi-square test and binary logistic regression analysis, the research results show that the factors affecting the decision to create self-employment of rural female laborers include: educational level, passion for self-employment, readiness to invest personal and family savings into entrepreneurial activities, information supporting self-employment and natural conditions of rural areas.

Factors Influencing Poverty Status of Indigenous Ethnic Minority Households in Dak Nong Province, Vietnam

This study explores the factors influencing the poverty of indigenous ethnic minority households in Dak Nong province. The study used the Binary Logistic regression model with a sample of 178 indigenous ethnic minority households, including poor households, and non-poor households. The results showed that the poverty rate of indigenous ethnic minority households is still high, accounting for 22.8% compared to the general poverty rate of Dak Nong province of 6.98%. In addition, we found that the factors affecting poverty of indigenous ethnic minority households included family size, education level, total farmland area, access to loans, participation in social organizations, diversification of livelihoods, communication means and natural disaster. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the implementation of family planning programs, improve education levels, career transition support policy, build and upgrade information and communication systems, and improve capacity to respond to disaster risks for indigenous ethnic minority households.
